A solid educational foundation is a crucial aspect of any child’s development. Family Centers’ Head Start preschools and NAEYC-accredited, curriculum-based Early Care and Education programs provide children with the skills they need to succeed in the classroom. Along with our School Based Health Centers, parent support programs and support for home daycare providers, Family Centers ensures that families have the resources they need to give children the bright beginnings they deserve.
Care to Care
Care to Care is a one-stop shop for family day care providers and parents of preschool children. In addition to providing in depth trainings on a variety of issues relating to children's health and well-being, Care to Care staff also conducts in-depth trainings on First Aid/CPR, child abuse prevention and detection, nutrition, infectious diseases and appropriate dicipline tactics.
Early Care and Education
Family Centers’ Early Care and Education programs offer full-time care for young children at four accredited facilities in Greenwich.
The Arch Street Preschool, Gateway Preschool and Dancing Dolphins School Readiness Class help children ages three to five prepare for kindergarten through learning, socialization and play. The Gateway Preschool also offers a class for two year-olds. The Joan Melber Warburg Early Childhood Center provides nurturing care for children ages six weeks to two years.
Greenwich Head Start Preschool
The Greenwich Head Start Preschool offers education programs for three and four year-old children of income-eligible families residing in Greenwich. Head Start also emphasizes parent involvement to encourage and support children’s educational and social development.
Homework Club
Family Centers and the Darien Board of Education partner to provide the Middlesex Middle School Homework Club, which operates after school Monday through Thursday during the academic school year. Since 1999, the Homework Club has provided students with a quiet, structured place where they can organize, prioritize and complete their homework assignments.
Nurturing Families Network
The Nurturing Families Network (NFN) helps first-time parents manage the challenges of parenthood by providing a system of continuous care designed to promote positive parenting through telephone support, parenting groups as well as home visiting for eligible parents.
School Based Health Centers
Located in six middle and high schools in Stamford, the School Based Health Centers provide medical assessments, physicals, screenings, dental care, mental health counseling and other services to 1,900 students each year. The Centers are staffed by licensed nurse practioners, medical assistants and dental professionals that specialize in child/adolescent health.
Young Parents Program (YPP)
YPP supports pregnant teens and young mothers as they transition into their roles as parents. In addition to providing prenatal/parenting education and support, YPP clinicians help young parents further their educational and vocation goals.
