Greenwich Rotary Club Donates $20,000 to Family Centers
The Greenwich Rotary Club recently awarded Family Centers a $20,000 grant to ensure children receive the skills they need to succeed in kindergarten and adults have access to quality vocational training services.
The Rotary Club earmarked $10,000 for the Greenwich Head Start Preschool and $10,000 for the Reaching Independence Through Employment (RITE) program.
In total, the Greenwich Rotary Club has committed over $50,000 to literacy initiatives in the Greenwich community this year. The Club also provides funding for international projects and offers scholarships to graduating Greenwich High School students. Family Centers' Head Start Preschools offer education programs for three and four year-old-children of families residing in Greenwich public and subsidized housing. Head Start also emphasizes parent involvement to encourage and support children's educational and social development.
The RITE Program provides low-income residents with comprehensive career counseling and vocational training services. The program also offers participants regular educational enhancement opportunities, referral services, resume-writing and interview assistance, ESL/literacy classes and bilingual computer training.
