Annual Scrabble Challenge Scores for Literacy Volunteers
Despite a rare November snowstorm that walloped lower Fairfield County, local wordsmiths braved the elements and vied for “Srabble Supremacy” at Literacy Volunteers at Family Centers’ 18th Annual Scrabble Challenge fundraiser. The event was held on Thursday, Nov. 15 at the Stamford Hilton.
Co-chaired by David Ball of Darien, and Rob Vendig of Stamford, Literacy Volunteers’ Scrabble Challenge brought together families, school groups and members of the business community for an evening of friendly competition. Players enjoyed cocktails, a buffet dinner, a silent auction and two rounds of Scrabble.
When the dust settled, teams from FactSet and the Waterside School claimed titles in the Corporate and Schools divisions, respectively. Team Vendig took the Friends & Family division championship.
All proceeds supported Literacy Volunteers’ English-language, literacy and education services offered to nearly 600 residents throughout Fairfield County.
